a stereotype shattered!

Turkey are not so dumb after all, at least wild turkey. Here's a hen with her poults. She's figured out that the finch bird feeder is awfully convenient if she sits on top of the fence. We caught her in the middle of teaching her little ones to do the same. Ironic that the feeder we set out for the tiny gold finches became the hot spot for the largest birds in the neighborhood.

We get turkeys here too but the chief culprit comes and stares at himself in the bumper of the truck. It's kind of sad, really.

That is one smart turkey mama! I think it's cool that you actually captured her with the poults on the fence.

Oh, that is funny! The squirrels always get into our bird feeders, no matter how many 'fail-safe' tricks we try.

We have wild turkeys in the woods behind us. They're not deep woods, but we once had 13 of them hop the fence into our backyard. They're quite large and intimidating.

Smart turkey!! Very resourceful. I'm always surprised how odd they look in real life.

I am not sure if turkeys are dumb or smart but the babies are cute!
