Every cover tells a story

I've owned three copies of this book, each with a different cover. My favorite cover is the last one. It's iconic. You can scramble the title and author's name but if you keep the colors and the font it stays easily recognizable to most people.

Least appreciated in this selection are the covers that attempt to depict Holden Caulfield. The beauty of this book is the ability to identify closely with Holden, even if you are a California girl from a younger generation.

Be sure to check out the Weekly Geeks HQ for more book cover fun!

Weekly Geeks

In the spirit of the amazing community building that Dewey was so good at, tell us about your favorite blogs, the ones you have bookmarked or subscribe to in your Google Reader, that you visit on a regular basis. Tell us what it is about these blogs that you love, that inspire or educate you or make you laugh. Be sure to link to them so we can find them too.

Until recently, I blogged mostly about politics. During this last election cycle I found I couldn't take the negativity and distortions anymore. Why spend even a tiny amount of time in a cyber world rife with bullying, sexism and racism? Life is short & too precious. I'd had enough and thought I should give more attention to other areas of my life such as reading, film, music, photography, gardening and cooking. So, this means my blog has undergone a quiet revision and is still evolving, hence the quote in the header.

One of my favorite new blogs (new to me) is sidewalk shoes. Visiting Pam's blog is like checking in with a friend. This is a woman who knows about the finer things in life. And, almost right off, I tried a recipe she shared and it was incredible. Simple, healthy, and delicious. You have to try this.

There are many book blogs that I follow. Too many to list here but I'll mention the three that have had an impact on my own blogging: Fizzy Thoughts, A Reader's Respite and Books Ahoy!. The first two approach writing about books through humor and creativity -- refreshing! Lisa at Books Ahoy! is where I won my first book giveaway -- exciting! Also, I like and appreciate how Lisa is improving her blog. She's a dedicated blogger with a lot to share about books.

I like to laugh so of course there are humor blogs that I check everyday. I am bossy and cake wrecks are at the top of the list. I like the humor because it's not at the expense of others and isn't mean or snide. Silliness is a good thing to foster in life, right? There's one thing about cake wrecks though, she recently added a bunch, and I mean a bunch of ads to the site. I find it distracting so I read that blog exclusively through google reader.

Wellness and being fit are important to me so there are a few of those kinds of blogs that I follow (see why I take so long to read books!). There are many that are terrific and it's really hard to choose favorites but the one I'm sure to read everyday is *Fitcetera*. Katschi (Karen) incorporates everything you'd ever want to find in a wellness blog: humor, advice, honesty, inspiration, authenticity and good information about eating clean and exercise.

In a nutshell, this is blogland for me right now. How about you?
