This week Molly and Andy at the Bumbles Blog ask about our favorite movie musicals. Like last week, I had to think about this a while. Slasher films, romance (chick flicks) and musicals are probably the genres I appreciate the least. However, I can honestly say I really like these films:

This week Molly and Andy at the Bumbles Blog ask about our favorite spoof movies. My first reaction was, "I don't really watch spoof movies." But, on further reflection, I do watch them and I like them, a lot.

This week Molly and Andy at the Bumbles Blog reflect on movie remakes after seeing an ad for the new remake of Friday The 13th. Most are cringe-inducing but, every now and then a remake is actually as good or better than the original.

Here are some remakes in my opinion that stand up to the originals:

• 3:10 to Yuma (Russell Crowe & Christian Bale)
• Cape Fear (Scorsese!)
• The Fly (Cronenberg directs a young, buff Jeff Goldblum)
  
• The Out-of-Towners (maybe it isn't better than the original but it has John Cleese)
  
• The Quiet American (Michael Caine)
  

Is it the director? Is it a particular actor? The combination?

Well, 2008 certainly went out with some memorable events prompting Molly of the Bumbles blog to ask what are movies with endings you consider memorable?

Here are some of our choices...what are yours?

• Fight Club (blew me away)
• Thelma & Louise (just W O W!)
  
• No Country for Old Men (people were grumbling around us but we liked the ambiguity)
• Limbo (doesn't get more ambiguous than this)
• One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (perfection!)

I can only think of three films that are rated Not Suitable for Parents, although I'm sure there are more:

• Eyes Wide Shut (with or without my parents, I regret seeing this film)
