I received two books this past week! Both are from the generous SoftDrink at Fizzy Thoughts.
Origin by Diana abu-jaber
"Abu-Jaber crafts an utterly magnetic story....Readers seeking gorgeously rendered fiction as well as intelligent and atmospheric mysteries will find Origin extraordinary." Booklist (Starred Review)
and
Crescent also by Diana abu-jaber
"Romantic, whimsical and wonderful in every way, being both sensuous and smart. I want to hang out all day at Nadia's Cafe." -- Whitney Otto, author of How to Make an American Quilt
Thanks again, SoftDrink.

I had seen *Crescent* over at Fizzy Thoughts, the second book looks great, too!
I recieved a "lovely parting gift" from softdrink for participating in her "Letter to Santa" giveaway. I was excited to have it arrive today - *Riding with the Queen* by Jennie Shortridge :)
You're welcome. :-D
Hi--Thanks for stopping by to check out my Mailbox Monday. I'm so glad you found some books that were of interest to you!
I am a huge memoir fan, and I did read A Three Dog Life earlier this year and quite liked it. Oddly enough, I saw someone else reading The Middle Place and thought it might be a good read for me. Whenver I hear about a book three times in three different places, I'll usually look to get it so maybe this will go on my list.
I've seen some stuff on Diana abu-Jaber but haven't read any books. Will be interested to see what you think!
I haven't read any books by Diana abu-Jaber yet, so I look forward to your reviews. Here's my Mailbox!

These sound good! I love forward to the reviews.
I haven't heard of this author before. I look forward to reading what you think about the books.
Thanks everyone for your visits.
I guess it is time to start reviewing the books I read. I find it challenging to give star ratings to books -- writing a review really makes me nervous! Pam, I like the way you do it so I'm thinking of following your approach. Maybe I won't feel intimidated.
Welcome and thank you for stopping by the 'mailbox' this week. Watch out as it becomes addicting to see what books turn up weekly in your fellow blogger's mailboxes.
Happy New Year!
Have you read The Language of Baklava also by this author? It is autobiographical. Her story of growing up in two different worlds is riveting...uplifting and heartbreaking all at the same time.
BookPsmith - this author is completely new to me. Thanks for bringing her other book to my attention. It sounds like something I would enjoy.
