Quotable

"No national candidate in modern history, not even Hillary Clinton, has ever been lambasted and lionized in quite the way Palin is. Why, for instance, do so many journalists feel compelled to mention her looks? Why are her family choices at the center of a noisy, cable-driven debate? Why are some Republicans convinced that the media apply a different standard to conservative women -- and journalists just as convinced that legitimate reporting is being written off as sexist snobbery?"

Say what you want, but
this ought to scare the dickens out of any sane person.

Was it fair or ethical to attack Obama based on the racist and crazy preaching of his spiritual adviser and pastor of 20 years? I didn't think so and that is why you won't find anything on my blog about it. This is yet another smear against Palin based on her faith. Please, give it a rest.

It's your blog. I'll respect your wishes (this being my last comment on the subject unless you ask me to follow up,) but my opinion remains: Sarah Palin is unqualified to be president based on her lack of experience and is, for a liberal (me) on the issues undeserving of being a consideration. It has nothing to do with her looks, her gender, her family. Her church is relevant, because I don't want a religious nut to have her finger on the button. If you believe that the earth is 6000 years old, that dinosaurs roamed the earth alongside of man, that evolution is false and those beliefs ought to be taught in the public schools as "science" and if you believe that we are in the end-times and that Jesus is on the verge of coming back to destroy the earth and the non-believers, and our foreign policy should be based on the veracity of the book of revelations, that qualifies you in my book as a religious nut. In a rational society that ought to disqualify you as leader of the free world. If I'm wrong in my assessment of her, show me where...

I believe Barack Obama is unqualified to be at the top of the Democratic ticket and to lead this country based on both his lack of experience and lack of ethics during the primary contest. It has nothing to do with his looks, his gender, his biracial ethnicity, his family or his membership in a radical and racist church for 20 years. I will give Barack Obama the benefit of doubt that, if elected, he will keep his liberation theology beliefs to himself and will maintain a separation between our government and religion as directed by the Constitution.

Fair enough. I appreciate the measured response.

Peace.
