inquiring minds

What is the last book you recommended to a friend?
I recommended "Getting In" to Kathleen.
And, "You're Either In or You're In the Way" to Erika.
I also recommended "Gringo Nightmare" to George.
I've been a busy little recommender.

Pam - I mentioned "The Help" to my mom but I don't think she heard me & I forgot to mention it again. I've loaned my copy of it to at least five friends already!

Karen - I bought that book right away but strangely, it has just sat in my TBR stack. Must read this book. :)

Mary Karr's memoir trilogy, starting with Liar's Club.

Is your recommend Getting In, a novel about admission to college? I'll be in the throes of that process in a couple years. I wonder if this novel will help me or just worry me out of my mind? Your thoughts?

Coffee - I think you'd like this book (Getting In) because as informative as it is about the process of college admissions & all the players, it's mostly about family dynamics. Maybe everyone (parents, the teens & school advisors) goes a little nuts during this time.

I recommended A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson to my youngest son. He loves humor and nature. He resisted it, but once he read it, he loved it. You said that you have a book I would like? I'm only going to be here until the end of June because of a tooth problem and other reasons. Need to think of a way to continue blogging when the Yellowstone thing is done.

Hey Judy,

Yep, I think you might like "Icebound - A Doctor's Incredible Battle for Survival at the North Pole" by Dr. Jerri Nielsen. Have you read it?

If you want it, just email with the address you'd like me to use.

BTW - I read about your tooth fiasco. That's such a bummer. I'm getting a crown put on Tues. The first part of the process was no fun at all. Having any sort of health set back makes being away from home all the more challenging.

Loving your blog...hang in there. - S

The Book of Lost Things is the other one recently after The Help that I recommend to anyone looking for time well spent.
