You may be familiar with James Kunstler's books such as World Made by Hand, a novel and The Long Emergency, a nonfiction work centered around the notion of peak oil. Here's a twenty minute lecture by Kunstler in which he makes the case that Americans are deserving of more creatively planned communities and homes. Sure, he's smugly arrogant, but it doesn't mean he doesn't have a valid point.
