Quotable - discovering courage

Why are we inspired by another person's courage? Maybe because it gives us the sweet and genuine surprise of discovering some trace, at least, of the same courage in ourselves.

~ Laurence Shames, author of Florida Straits, Welcome to Paradise and The Naked Detective. And co-author of Not Fade Away, one of my favorite memoirs.

I think that's one of the reasons we read is to discover some trace of the good we see in the main character in ourselves. And to think about what we would do faced with similar hurdles.

Thanks for sharing that inspirational quote, Sherry.

It gives me hope to see ordinary people have courage, it reminds me I can too.
