Chilly Scenes of Winter

Winter Scene in Moonlight, 1869
Henry Farrer

This image of a watercolor is from The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Artwork of the Day which I receive through google reader. I'm hoping to visit New York City for the first time this November for my birthday. The Met is one of the places I'm most interested in visiting.

This is a wonderful museum (and I didn't know about the "art of the day", thanks for the tip!).

The museum is HUGE; you could take a whole day and not see it all. You might want to get a guide to the museum and plot out what you HAVE to see during your visit ... have a blast (I know it's over 6 months away, but I find it's almost as much fun to plan and anticipate a trip!)

I love the Met...when I was in high school, I lived in north Jersey and would often take the PATH train and subway and spend the day there...or at the Cloisters, at the northern tip on Manhattan, which perhaps I love even more.
There is a nice restaurant in the museum, so you don't even have to leave to eat.

Then or now, I can never get anyone I know to go with me. Their loss!

I am getting excited...I feel if I post about this idea of a birthday trip to NYC in early November it'll be certain to become reality.

I welcome any and all suggestions.

~ thanks Dawn & caite ~

We usually get down to NYC at least once a year - but it is almost always for a specific purpose or person so we never get to just wander and be tourists. I would love to go to the Met and get lost in there for a few days - it has been so long since my last visit there.
