Teaser Tuesdays

TEASER TUESDAYS is hosted by MizB (Should Be Reading). Here's what you do:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given.
  • Here’s a taste of what I’m reading:

"We are mired even happily in the sweet weeks of June, when vigour is everywhere, the green of everything violent and hungry, the young brambles anxious and ambitious to cover every neglected dip and awkward hillock of our fields. Perhaps that is the great note of the summer, an awful anxiety that takes itself into everything like a strange rot in the windowsills, eating out the hearts of things till you could put your finger through the last coat of sorrow."

Annie Dunne by Sebastian Barry pg. 84

By reading this one random and small sample, you can clearly see poetry in the prose. I'm enchanted by the writing.

Here is a link to SoftDrink's review of Annie Dunne. This is what directed me to pick up this book.

    What are you reading?

Paints quite a picture of the Emerald Isle doesn't it? Funny that we both are spending some time in the 50's in our books. I am really enjoying Edgar Sawtelle thus far - just getting into the beginnings of it though. Since it is quite long I have a feeling you will be seeing a few more Teasers from it on my blog!

I didn't realize "Edgar Sawtelle" was set in the 50's. Happy reading in 2009, Molly. Cheers!

I enjoyed Softdrink's review of *Annie Dunne*, glad she inspired you to pick it up!

    My Teaser is here.

You asked about Amazon purchases supporting First Book. All the shopping links on my blog (Amazon, B&N and IndieBound are on the main page, a few other stores are listed on the "Shop" page), go to monthly donations to First Book. I'll provide supporting documents (sales reports) to anyone who asks for them.

    Happy New Year, Cali!
