Quotable - What writers do

"What we do might be done in solitude and with great desperation, but it tends to produce exactly the opposite. It tends to produce community and in many people hope and joy."

~ Junot Díaz, author of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

I'm not a writer, but I love that quote. And I loved, loved, loved his book!

And a wonderful community it is, too!

Hey, Nite Swimming,

I loved that quote on the Writer's Almanac! In fact, it ran through my head again this morning so I Googled it, hoping to find in which particular Diaz book or article it appeared.

No luck there, but I did get to see your great picture of a waterfall...even if it isn't the Bridal Veil Falls in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest...

Happy New Year to you from Texas!

Pam - I'll put that book at the top of my TBR list.

Jill - Back at you! People who blog about books and reading are amazing. Check out Pam's blog: she blogs about cooking, reading and her gorgeous kitties. Oh my!

mad4books - Thanks so much for visiting and taking the time to leave a comment. My daughter lives in Austin and we're continuously growing in our appreciation of Texas.

Happy New Year's wishes to you from the Sierra Nevada foothills in northern California!
