A while back I listened to the NPR show Fresh Air two days in a row. First, I heard Terry Gross interview Steven Tyler. Tyler discussed Aerosmith's early influences and was prodded by Gross to talk specifically about Led Zeppelin. Basically, Tyler side-stepped acknowledging the obvious influence of Robert Plant on his vocal style. Never said a word of praise about Led Zeppelin or Robert Plant.The next day, I listened to Terry Gross interview Robert Plant. What a difference in terms of wisdom, humility and grace. Plant's recent album, Raising Sand with Alison Krauss is one of my favorites of this past year. Happy Birthday, Robert. Rock on.
